Meal Prep & Weekly Meals Bingo: Make Healthy Eating Feel Like a Game

Our newest bingo card opens November 4. Here's your preview.

Meal prep has a reputation. It sounds like a whole Sunday spent chopping, portioning and washing a mountain of containers. But it doesn't have to be a chore. With a bingo card, it becomes a series of small, doable wins, and every square you tick brings you closer to a week of easier, healthier eating.

The Meal Prep & Weekly Meals bingo card has 46 squares, from planning and shopping to cooking, storing and cleaning up. You won't tick them all in one week, and that's the point. Pick the ones that fit your life and let the card nudge you along.

How It Works

Each day, check off the squares you complete. Aim for a row, a column or a diagonal. Once you've got a line, keep going for a full card. There's no wrong way to play: a busy week might be a few quick wins, and a free weekend might be a big batch-cooking blitz. Tip: Not sure where to start? Begin with the planning squares. A good plan makes everything else easier.

Start With a Plan

A little planning saves time, money and stress:

  • Plan the week's meals. Even a rough sketch of dinners helps.
  • Write a grocery list. Then stick to it to avoid impulse buys.
  • Clean out the fridge before shopping. Know what you already have.
  • Buy a new vegetable. Variety keeps healthy eating interesting.
  • Shop at a farmers' market. Fresh, seasonal and fun.

Batch Cooking Wins

These squares are the heart of meal prep. A little cooking now means easy meals later:

  • Batch cook grains. Rice, quinoa or farro, ready for bowls all week.
  • Prep protein for the week. Chicken, tofu, beans or eggs.
  • Roast a tray of veggies. One pan, minimal effort.
  • Hard-boil a dozen eggs. The easiest grab-and-go protein.
  • Cook a big pot of soup. Comforting and great for leftovers.
  • Cook once, eat twice. Turn tonight's dinner into tomorrow's lunch.
  • Freeze a meal for later. Future you will be grateful.
  • Wash and chop veggies. Make the healthy choice the easy choice.

Easy Dinners

Weeknight dinners don't need to be complicated:

  • Sheet-pan dinner. Toss, roast, done.
  • Slow cooker meal. Set it and forget it.
  • Fish for dinner. Quick to cook and light.
  • Meatless Monday. Try a plant-based night.
  • Pasta night, taco night and homemade pizza. Classic favourites you can make yourself.
  • Breakfast for dinner. Pancakes at 6 p.m. are always a good idea.
  • Home-cooked meal every day. A big challenge, and a great goal.
  • No takeout day. Cook at home and skip the delivery apps.
  • Eat dinner at the table. Slow down and enjoy it.

Breakfasts and Snacks

Morning and snack time are where prep really pays off:

  • Overnight oats. Five minutes tonight, breakfast sorted.
  • Prep breakfast for the week. Grab and go.
  • Fruit with breakfast. A simple, colourful upgrade.
  • Make a smoothie. Blend and sip.
  • Bake healthy muffins. Make a batch and freeze extras.
  • Make energy bites. No-bake and snack-ready.
  • Portion out snacks. Pre-portioned bags stop mindless munching.
  • Pack lunch for work. Save money and eat better.

Fresh Flavour Squares

Keep things interesting so you don't get bored:

  • Try a new recipe. Add one new dish to your rotation.
  • Try a new spice. A pinch can change a meal.
  • Homemade salad dressing. Simple, fresher and cheaper than store-bought.
  • Veggies at every meal. Aim to add a few at each sitting.
  • Use up leftovers. Reduce waste and save time.
  • Water with every meal. An easy hydration habit.

Kitchen Habits

A tidy kitchen makes cooking easier:

  • Label your containers. Know what's inside and when you made it.
  • Organize the fridge. Put prepped food where you can see it.
  • Wash dishes as you go. No giant pile at the end.

Make It Social (and Active)

Cooking doesn't have to be a solo job:

  • Cook with a friend or family member. Double the fun, half the work.
  • Kids help in the kitchen. Washing, stirring and tasting all count.
  • Dance while you cook. Put on a playlist and move.
  • Squats while the water boils. Sneak in some movement while you wait.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Card

  1. Start small. Pick three squares to focus on this week.
  2. Prep once, use many times. Grains, proteins and chopped veggies mix and match all week.
  3. Invite someone. A friend or family member keeps you accountable.
  4. Celebrate every line. Every row is a win.

Ready When You Are

The Meal Prep & Weekly Meals bingo card opens November 4. Between now and then, you can start planning meals, clear out the fridge and make your first grocery list. When the card goes live, you'll be ready to hit the ground running. Happy prepping, and may your containers always be labelled and your leftovers never forgotten.
