How to Start a Bingo Team (and Why It's So Much Fun)

Doing something on your own is fine. Doing it with your people is better. That's the whole idea behind teams on Social Fit Challenge: everyone plays bingo together, cheers each other on, and keeps an eye on a leaderboard that never quite lets you relax.

Whether it's your office, your run club, your group chat or your family, a team turns "I should probably move more" into "I am NOT letting Dave beat me this week."

How to start a team

It takes about a minute:

  1. Create a free account (or log in).
  2. Go to the Team page and choose Start a team.
  3. Give your team a name and pick a bingo card.
  4. Share your invite link or the 6-character team code.

That's it. Anyone with the link or code can join, and a team can hold up to 200 people, so it works just as well for a small friend group as it does for a whole workplace.

How team bingo works

  • Everyone plays the same card, but each person gets their own shuffled squares. No copying your neighbour!
  • Tap a square when you finish it. Five in a row, column or diagonal is a bingo. Fill the whole card for a blackout.
  • The leaderboard ranks everyone by bingos first, then squares done. If there's a tie, whoever got there first wins.
  • Peek at your teammates' cards with "View card" to see what they've done (and what they're avoiding).
  • Pick your leaderboard name. Use your real name, a nickname, or something a little ridiculous.

You can be on one team at a time, and you can leave whenever you like.

Make your own team card (free)

This is where it gets really fun. The person who starts the team can customize the squares:

  1. Pick a starting card.
  2. Keep the squares you like and remove the rest.
  3. Add your own.

Your card can have anywhere from 24 to 80 squares, and it stays private to your team. Think inside jokes, office traditions, or challenges that only make sense to your group:

  • "Take the stairs to the 4th floor"
  • "Bring a treat for the team"
  • "Walk at lunch with someone from another department"
  • "High-five the first person you see on Monday"

Your card shows up with your team's name on it, so it really feels like yours.

Why it's more fun with a team

A little friendly competition goes a long way. It's amazing how motivating it is to see your name one spot below a coworker's.

It gets people talking. Bingo squares are great conversation starters. Suddenly you're chatting with people you only used to nod at in the hallway.

Everyone can join in. Squares are small, doable things, not marathons. Walkers, beginners and gym regulars can all play on the same card.

It builds habits without feeling like work. When your friends are counting on you (and watching the leaderboard), it's a lot easier to show up.

It's free. Starting a team, joining a team and making a custom card don't cost a thing.
